Why We Love This

An exquisite French Art Deco pochoir by Gamy. Pochoirs are created through a type of stencil technique. Popular during the Art Deco period, pochoirs are increasingly hard to find, particularly those by Gamy, the name of a husband and wife team. Ernest Montaut would create the image, and his wife Magy would color it using stencils, often finishing works like this one after his death. This poster is labeled: "The Dedalia Car, first prize winner at the 1913 ACF Grand Prix for Cycle Cars."
