Why We Love This

Original 1961 Polish poster for a film about the Titanic disaster. The film is a British adaptation of Walter Lord's book A Night to Remember. This Polish poster by Wojciech Zamecznik bypasses the obvious disaster and nautical imagery and instead presents us with a large bifurcated circle as its point of focus. Zamecznik's design is arresting in its simplicity and stands as one of the best examples of modernist poster design. Lithograph.

About Posteritati

Posteritati, named "the best place to be reminded that all film art isn't on-screen" by the Village Voice and voted one of SoHo's best independent shops by Time Out New York, is one of the world's premier dealers of vintage and contemporary movie art: "Any film poster fanatic will feel more than at home at Posteritati." As Vanity Fair puts it, Posteritati's Manhattan gallery is "home to more than 9,000 fine examples of American and international film-promotion."
