Malcolm Sanders’ goal is to create paintings that reach out to the viewer, creating a powerful sense of mood or place. Coastal subjects are a recurrent theme, and Malcolm believes that the ocean has a way of cleansing the spirit and reconnecting us with the innocence of childhood. His most recent collection, in which sand and sea blend subtly with azure skies, evokes a calming, almost Zenlike tranquility. The contemporary-style gesso and wood frame was handcrafted using traditional 17th-century Florentine techniques, and hand-painted in off-white.
