Hilary Knight collection. Includes a Cosmopolitan postcard addressed to Mr. Knight from a friend discussing the book laid in at front free end paper. First Edition. Oversized folio and 500 illustrations in black and white. ISBN: 0151384800. A social history unlike any other, compiled from an extraordinary private archive of 50,000 photographs by Jerome Zerbe, America's first society photographer. Here are 500 of his best pictures - racy, impudent, amused - which amount to a novel composed by a camera and having for plot the playful hours of the young, the rich, the beautiful, and the celebrated. Tight binding.

Sometime in the early ’50s, Hilary Knight’s drawings of naughty little girls for Mademoiselle magazine led to a meeting with author Kay Thompson (then a top nightclub performer)--and, of course, to the perpetually adored Eloise, the precocious Plaza dweller who in many ways is Knight’s alter ego. “Eloise will be celebrating her 60th birthday in 2015--not bad for a six-year-old,” says Knight. We’re honored to offer these personal pieces from Knight, who remains as stylish, outspoken, and original as the legendary little girl he brought to life.
