Why We Love This

Shocking Life by Elsa Schiaparelli. New York: E.P. Dutton, 1954. First Edition. 254 pages. Hardcover with dust jacket. Condition: book itself is in very good condition--only issue is an exposed seam, but binding is intact. The jacket shows repaired tears, creasing, and chipping to the upper spine. This is a professional yet intimate memoir of the Paris-based prewar fashion designer. Includes several sections of photographs and an appendix titled “The Twelve Commandments for Women.”

About Nick Harvill Libraries

California-based Nick Harvill Libraries specializes in out-of-print and rare books from the 20th century on fashion, design, art, social history, travel, Hollywood, and photography. NHL and its books have been profiled in Vogue, C Magazine, The Peak of Chic, Angeleno, Vogue Living, the Los Angeles Times, and American Express’s Black Ink Magazine. Elle Décor recommended NHL for its “hip vintage books” from a “smart young dealer.”
