Why We Love This

The Blood of a Poet (First American Edition, 1949). The book is inscribed "à mon coeur de tout Coeur! Jean Cocteau" in blue fountain pen with a drawing by Cocteau below his signature. 53 pages. Translation by Lily Pons and book design by Dimitri Petrov. This is a book about the eponymous film, one of the early and great classics of avant garde cinema. Includes black white stills and a shot-by-shot narration of the film.

About Nick Harvill Libraries

California-based Nick Harvill Libraries specializes in out-of-print and rare books from the 20th century on fashion, design, art, social history, travel, Hollywood, and photography. NHL and its books have been profiled in Vogue, C Magazine, The Peak of Chic, Angeleno, Vogue Living, the Los Angeles Times, and American Express’s Black Ink Magazine. Elle Décor recommended NHL for its “hip vintage books” from a “smart young dealer.”
