This handsome pair of vintage reproductions was printed 25 years ago from antiques in the William Stafford archive. Swiss printseller and bookseller Karl Joseph Brodtmann was one of the most accomplished lithographers of his day. His natural history lithographs include Heinrich Rudolf Schinz's natural history volumes on reptiles and birds, published in the early 1830s. Brodtmann also produced the offered folio natural history lithographs, probably also in the 1830s, as Naturhistorische Bilder Gallerie aus dem Theirreiche.

William Stafford Gallery has a sterling reputation for its reproduction prints. The London-based gallery is a treasure trove of fine-art prints, contemporary black-and-white photography, sepia photography, and works in color. By commissioning artists and photographers and then controlling all aspects of print production, the gallery ensures a consistently exceptional quality. Through collaborations with master framemakers, it offers new and refreshing presentation ideas in pace with today's design trends.
