This lyrical depiction of divers, captured as they form curlicue shapes in the air, was originally rendered with acrylic, gouache, and pencil on board. Here, it is reproduced on fine art paper and set off with a white wood frame.
Born into a family of artists and musicians, Roberta Pinna has been creating art since she was a small child. She studied at the School of Visual Art in New York as well as in Italy and France. In her search for subjects, Pinna takes hundreds of photographs and, from those, picks out individuals and isolates figures from their original setting. She often prepares a gesso ground on paper, board, or canvas and then freely and masterfully mixes a variety of media.
