Why We Love This

Sumptuous trompe l'oeil oil by Candace Jans (b. 1952). A painted photograph references the 16th-century Medici family in a postmodern homage to classic still life tradition. Represented by noted galleries in Boston and NY in a long career of group and solo shows. The time-consuming detail and painstaking process of Jan's technique yields fewer works and is more valued as a result. Signed lower left. Fischbach Gallery label with name, date, title on verso. Floating wood frame with black insert.
