As described by Billy Blue Eye

Sascha Brastoff was born Samuel Brostofsky in Cleveland, Ohio in 1918 and became one of the most gifted artists of the 20th Century. He was a performer, sculptor, painter an influential ceramicist. From 1946 to '62 he created ceramic works that captured his flair for the dramatic love of all things beautiful. This 7.5" decorative plate from his 1950's "Abstraction in Gold" series may be used as a tray, candleholder or display piece. It is signed "Sascha B." "J-12" (Mold #) on underside.
