This lithograph is printed in two colors by the Atelier Mourlot in Paris. It was created in 1959. Russian by birth, Marc Chagall was educated in St. Petersburg and Paris, eventually emigrating to France in 1923. Though his early influences were Russian Expressionism and French Cubism, Chagall created a style unique to the 20th century. His mastery of color suffuses his paintings and prints as well as the stained glass made for European cathedrals.
