This lithograph is printed in three colors by the Atelier Mourlot in Paris. It was created in 1959. Russian by birth, Marc Chagall was educated in St. Petersburg and Paris, eventually emigrating to France in 1923. Though his early influences were Russian Expressionism and French Cubism, Chagall created a style unique to the 20th century. His mastery of color suffuses his paintings and prints as well as the stained glass made for European cathedrals.

This extraordinary group of lithographic posters comes from the collection of Barleycorn Antique Prints. Owned by British-born Philippa Katz, Barleycorn sources antique prints and rare books from across England, France, and Germany. The company is based in Vermont.
