Why We Love This

This is a print of the original work, beautifully framed with white lacquered wood. The artist Michael Vincent Manalo gives this poetic description for this work: "A room filled with water which makes sounds like that of the ocean. / A room with a wallpaper made out of a real sky. / A room where overlapping waves echo in the small space. / A room where the sound of the clouds can be heard. / A room where the sun sets, rises and stays aloof and herds the clouds and waves to distant regions. / A room where the clock is slow and the time is worth nothing. / A room filled with earth, but most of the time water. / A room where the earth is in peace. / A room where you can set sail and not get lost. / A room where you can breathe the air and not get ill. / A room where you can dream and just kill time with nothing to worry about after. / A room where you can be alive." The artist Michael Vincent Manalo is a photographer and a digital mixed-media artist. His work is inspired by the imagined memories of nostalgic and dream-like environments; his works document their decline into post-apocalyptic and nightmarish creations. The themes seen on his work revolve around surrealism, magic realism and realism. Manalo has exhibited internationally, and he was awarded first prize for digital art at the Art Museum of Chianciano Terme, Italy, and "Best Photography Illustration" from The Redmond Digital Arts Festival in Washington.
