As described by Billy Blue Eye

McCoy Pottery dates back to 1848 when W. Nelson McCoy founded a stoneware company in Putnam, Ohio. Over the years, McCoy strove to provide usable ceramic items as well as a line of art pottery. This low bowl was designed for forcing flower bulbs like narcissus into bloom. Scalloped rim. 6"Dia opening. The bowl is heavily crazed, giving it a beautiful crackle finish. Fading bottom marked "McCoy U.S.A."
