French antique steel-cut engraving of Joachim Murat, Marshal and Admiral of France, King of Naples, Italy and brother-in-law to Napoleon. In 1838, in order to raise money for the restoration of Versailles, the king commissioned a series of high-quality engravings of famous French personalities that were sold by subscription to wealthy supporters. Engraved by François after a painting by Gérard; published by Furne, Paris. Original biography included.
