Why We Love This

Lithograph by contemporary American artist Joanne Lachiusa of a chair resting on a geometric-patterned floor and a window with a view to the opposite side of the apartment building. The piece rests in a cream matte and wood frame painted black. Lachiusa, who is renowned for her jewelry designs, studied in Florence, Italy and currently works as a workshop leader in Rochester, New York.

For the past three decades, Galerie Sommerlath and French 50s 60s owner Michele Sommerlath has been an art and antiques dealer with a specialty in American and European Mid-Century Modern design. Born in France, she spent the early part of her youth in Morocco before moving back to Paris. She credits both countries with informing her taste for design and color. Her approach to curation is intuitive: She buys what she loves. Her current passion is revisiting and refreshing 1980s design.
