A fine reproduction of an original image by Louis van Houtte, who was a Belgian horticulturist that set up a very successful nursery in the mid-1800s. This image was taken from the catalogues he published to advertise the plants he sold. The gesso-and-wood frame was hand-finished by craftsmen using 17th-century Florentine techniques. This frame is hand finished in a lemon silver.
