Dalí frequently used mythical figures in his work, like this surreal depiction of the god Mercury. This etching is from the original plate, drawn and signed in the plate by the artist in 1968. Dalí is one of the most controversial artists of the 20th century. Brilliant, innovative, grandiose and flamboyant, he is credited with the popularization of Surrealism.
