This turn-of-the-century travel poster, rendered in Cappiello's classic style, was designed to entice travelers to the French resort of Aix-les-Bains. This oversize fine-art piece is an open-edition print, produced using serigraphy on the highest-quality paper. Leonetto Cappiello visited Paris in 1898 and fell so in love with the city that he became a naturalized citizen of France that same year. He is credited with being the first to realize that a poster should not only catch the pedestrian's eye but the motorist's as well. You can see the influences of Cheret, Hassal, Hardy, and the Beggarstaffs in his works, which almost always feature a character in motion.
