Why We Love This

Vintage (c.1940s), black Chinese coromandel lacquer decorative panel with mother-of-pearl and bone inlay. Shows three lovely vignettes. Top has a placid river scene with pagoda, gazebos, and tea house. Middle shows women practicing calligraphy on a balcony. Bottom vignette is of a mother and child taking a stroll through the meadows. Black lacquered frame has two rows of bamboo with a silver band between. Major components of the images use silver paint and carved mother-of-pearl and bone.
