The Way We Were by Daniel Okrent. New York: Grove Weidenfeld, 1989. First Printing. 180 pages. Approximately 150 photographs, all black and white, shot in the 1940s and 1950s. Gordon Parks, Esther Bubley, John Vachon produced most of the photos. The were hired by Roy Stryker who was managing a Standard Oil project to document the role of oil in everyday life.
