As described by Christopher de Lotbinière's Rare Books

Picasso: My Grandfather by Marina Picasso. New York: Riverhead Books, 2001. First printing. The struggle that each discarded family suffered due to the greatest painter of his times, recalled here by Picasso's granddaughter. Her father was relegated to the role of chauffeur and the visiting children never knew if they would be cherished or ignored. Marina survived by re-inventing herself through charitable works and eventually inherited part of the Picasso estate.
