As described by Casey Design

This drawing was part of the originals for the cartoon strip "All of Us Americans" syndicated across the USA from 1921-1962. W.E. Hill is considered one of the fathers of the modern comic strip. All early cartoons were drawn individually in charcoal like this one, and then assembled at the newspaper. During the late 1950s Hill perfected a method of laying out the full page strip and drawing it in india ink on poster board.
