Birdman of Alcatraz, an abstract expressionist figural painting by George Albert Harris (American, 1913-1991). Circa 1945 and signed lower right. Harris painted frescoes in Coit Tower for the Public Works of Art Project. In 1950, he was commissioned to paint a mural titled, A Century of Progress at the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce. He taught art classes at Alcatraz Prison from 1943 to 1945. Image, 28”H x 47”L.
