Throw with silk front and heavy Belgian linen back. This line was designed with the intention of creating modern heirlooms for the home. Each one-of-a-kind piece is made of natural fabrics dyed and painted by hand. Made in Los Angeles.
"A large part of my design work happens in or on top of water, " says Paige Cleveland. "It is quite magical to achieve such rich detail on the surface of a fabric when the main tool is fluid." In her process of dyeing and marbling, pattern and texture are created through a sort of tension and eventual integration. With Itajime shibori, fabrics are folded and bound in different ways to keep certain layers out of the dye’s reach. In marbling, where paint is floated on water, surface tension affects the way the paints interact and move on the surface. This resist and gain between the fabric and the technique is what creates the strong geometric patterns and the organic landscapes found in Cleveland's work.
