A man rides a galloping horse in a series of photographs depicting motion by Eadweard Muybridge who is credited as being the Father of motion pictures. His experiments in photographing rapid action are landmarks in the history of photography. He was born in England in 1830 before moving to the United States in 1852 and was subsequently commissioned by the government to take pictures of the Pacific Coast.

When European designers need the perfect black-and-white photograph, they turn to the archives of the William Stafford Gallery. Based in London, the gallery sources evocative, memorable images from large and small collections across the globe. William Stafford is known for unearthing remarkable undiscovered works by the most important photographers. The combination of the finest paper and ink on each work guarantees perfect clarity for a minimum of 50 years.
