About Nightwood NY

Nightwood consists of Ry Scruggs who makes all the wood furniture and Nadia Yaron who specializes in weaving, natural dyeing, upholstery and painting which are the items highlighted in our artisanal sale. Nadia weaves with an array of materials from around the world. She uses scrap fabrics, driftwood and scrap wood. She incorporates scrap metals like brass and copper, as well as found objects and materials. She has a number of looms, from floor looms to hand-held frame looms she uses for smaller weavings. Her paintings started out as notebook sketches for weavings and rugs inspired by vintage textiles from around the world. She started out painting geometric shapes in acrylic and has recently moved into abstract landscapes and sacred geometry with oil paints on wood for a richer, smoother, yet thicker texture on her paintings.
