Why We Love This

Gil Blas was an important French periodical in the late 1890s. Some of the most important French artists of the day contributed work for its covers and pages, including this late-1890s lithograph. An illustration for a poem by Claire Sidon called Tristesse de l'Heureuse (the sadness of the happy woman) by Balluriau. Image measures 9.5"W x 12.5"H, mat size measures 16"W x 20"H.
