Why We Love This

A mask is from the Kwele tribe of Gabon. Hand-carved from wood and hand-painted. Masks like this one are rarely worn, even on ceremonial occasions. This type of mask is known as pibibuze (man). Pibuze masks are identified through their heart/oval-shaped structure.

About NOA Living

Although we break the rules of consistency by deliberately crossing boundaries between styles, we feel that one rule must remain: Be it modern or antique, there is no substitute for authenticity, imbued by a strong tradition of craftsmanship and excellence of materials.
