Why We Love This

Still life oil painting, titled Abstract Derivation, shows paint brushes and vases. By Louise Miller Clark. Clark's work is exemplary of Synchromism, which became the first American avant-garde art movement to receive international attention. Founded in 1912 it was based on the idea that colors are like music scales and can be orchestrated in the same harmonious way that a composer arranges notes in a symphony. Signed "Louise Miller Clark" lower right. Unframed.
