Why We Love This

This fine embroidery piece is a segment of an imperial robe, embroidered with five dragons, four of which represent the four directions. The fabric is woven from plant fiber and is naturally dyed. The center piece possibly dates back to late 1800s and the border was added later. Metal wire is woven into the border. Preserved between two pieces of framed plexiglass.
