Why We Love This

The Blithedale Romance by Nathaniel Hawthorne. Boston: Ticknor, Reed, and Fields, 1852. First Edition, second printing. 288 pp. No illustrations. Hawthorne's third major romance is set in the fictional utopian town of Blithedale, which is loosely based on the Massachusetts community of Brook Farm, where Hawthorne lived for a few months in 1841. Five pages of inset advertisements in the front are dated May, 1853. Slight losses at top and bottom of spine.
