Why We Love This

A still life of tulips, painted in loose, lush strokes. This is a striking reproduction of the original work. Pierre-Auguste Renoir was one of the most important painters at the beginning of Impressionism. His great celebration of beauty, especially feminine sensuality, is manifest in much of his work. Later in life, an effort to return to the classicism of Raphael and other Renaissance masters was a drastic about-face, but did nothing to dim the brilliance of his impressive career.
