Why We Love This

A fine, cabinet-size, 19th-century English oil on mahogany panel showing a panoramic view of a peaceful rural lane with figures resting beside a winding path. In the distance, the spire of a Norman church rises into a golden sunset. An exceptional and delicate work painted in the 18th-century English landscape tradition. Initialed on verso "J.G." for John Goodall (English, 19th century), a listed English landscape artist, and painted circa 1860. Unframed.

About McNaught Fine Art

A 1986 graduate of Christie's Fine Arts of London, I headed the fine art department of a West Coast auction house before opening my own gallery. Each painting I represent is selected with care. I believe fine art to be an integral part of life, illuminating both our vision and our values for our children. As time passes, our paintings become heirlooms, enriched with our shared memories. Many things come and go. Art abides. - Anthony McNaught
