Why We Love This

This print comes from a collaborative book by poet Robert Creeley entitled Numbers, featuring ten silkscreen prints by Robert Indiana. Creeley collaborated frequently on book projects and exhibitions with artists, including such contemporary masters as Jim Dine and Francesco Clemente. This book, the second collaboration between Creeley and Indiana, was recently exhibited at New York's Museum of Modern Art. The book is from an edition of 2500, published in 1968 by Stuttgart and Düsseldorf. 4to, original printed wrappers; publisher's board slipcase; prospectus laid in.

About the Brand

A preeminent figure of the American Pop Art movement, Robert Indiana uses words, numbers, and graphic designs to express philosophical ideas. Indiana's work is influenced by American writers, from Herman Melville to Walt Whitman, as well as by contemporaries such as Jasper Johns.
