Created by Henri Matisse for an exhibition at the Galerie Maeght in Paris, this beautiful two-color lithograph was printed by the celebrated Atelier Mourlot in Paris in 1959. The work has been handsomely framed and matted.
Henri Matisse was a virtuoso, moving from cut-outs and sculpture to painting. The principal founder of Fauvism, Matisse often imbued his works with expressive color. He was also a masterful draftsman. Educated and trained in Paris, Matisse spent most of his life in the South of France.
