Why We Love This

Joan Miró (1893-1983) is one of the most significant Spanish painters of the twentieth century. While his early work clearly shows the influence of Fauvism and Cubism, Miró eventually developed a characteristic flowing calligraphic style, his art populated by a world of forms resembling shorthand symbols. From Fauvism to Surrealism by way of his original childlike style, Miró sought to shake up the establishment and made a name for himself in doing so. This lavishly illustrated volume is an excellent resource on the artist and his work.
