Why We Love This

The Great Days of Sail, by Andrew Shewan. Naval Institute Press, 1973. Hardcover with dust jacket. 240 pages. Captain Andrew Shewan was the last-surviving tea-clipper captain. At the age of 23, he was appointed captain of his first clipper, racing from ports in China with the new season's cargo of tea, and he went on to experience life on board almost every one of the British clippers he mentions, and raced with many of them on the High Seas.
