Why We Love This

Midcentury pen and ink abstract on paper by Illinois artist Dellard Cassity (1926-2008). While internationally recognized artists such as Stella and Vasarely were pioneering the styles of Hard-Edge Abstract and Optical Art in the world’s big cities, Cassity was quietly doing the same in his small town of Litchfield, Illinois. This piece is a study by the artist for a larger-scale optical painting. Unframed. Shipped with standard archival mat. Estate stamped with artist's signature on mat.
