A neoclassic-style mahogany secretary bookcase by Joseph Gerte, with an open fixed shelf upper cabinet, and a lower cabinet with a central fitted secretary drawer over brass grilled doors flanked by sham drawers and doors. Lower cabinet features an adjustable shelf. Gerte was a Boston based maker, considered to be among 20th-century America's finest furniture makers. Sheared fabric easily removed or replaced.
