Quail Lane Press
The Outer Banks is a string of peninsulas and barrier islands separating the Atlantic Ocean from mainland North Carolina. Before bridges were built in the 1930s, the only form of transport between or off the islands was by boat, which allowed the islands to stay isolated from much of the mainland. This helped to preserve the maritime culture and the distinctive Outer Banks brogue, which sounds more like an English accent than it does an American accent.
This piece is hand-drawn and printed on an old-fashioned letterpress to look like an authentic artifact, then tinted with watercolor by the artist. Please note that this work is unframed.
