Why We Love This

A beautiful print of a yellowfin tuna, made directly from the specimen by the artist Annie Sessler. Once the fish had been caught and prepared, Sessler took this ink print to capture the striking detail and lively spirit of the subject on fabric. The resulting artwork is both elegant and full of natural, earthy beauty. This is a fine reproduction of the original print on fabric. It is set off handsomely in a simple wood frame.

About the Brand

Living at the end of Long Island, Annie Sessler and her husband, Jim Goldberg, get direct inspiration from the sea. Goldberg fishes, and one day the couple began making ink prints of the day’s catch. Sessler, who trained in design, was soon using this technique to create uniquely beautiful works of art in her Montauk studio. She finishes each piece with a red signature mark, referencing the traditional Japanese art of fish rubbing, .
