    • Family Room

      Southern Hospitality

“The Christmas House showcases Atlanta’s easy elegance—livable luxury that’s not contrived,” says Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles editorial director Clinton Smith. Designer Liz William's family room radiates a balanced, eclectic grace, and seems to glow from within with warm, buttery hues that make everyone feel welcome.

Liz’s Tip: “It’s in the details! Whether it’s a great tape trim on the skirt of an otherwise solid sofa, or the perfect flange or button detail on curtain panels, subtle details like these elevate the style of a room and make it unique.”

      • Upstairs Study

        A Golden Glow

Charm, warmth, a diversity of textures, and effortless style converge in the upstairs study, but the abundance is contained and complementary. Interior designer Chris Holt was inspired by the autumnal hues of the drapery fabric, which he used as a springboard to create the entire room’s color scheme. “The palette is the thing in this room that ties everything together,” he says.

Chris’s Tip: “When you think you’ve  finished accessorizing, remove one item from the room.”

        • Young Boy's Room

          Fearless Fantasy

“We took ourselves back to our youth, when we had fun exploring the world in our imaginations,” says designer Barbara Heath, whose penchant for great lighting and expressive art saturate this vivid vision of a young boy’s room. “That’s what inspired the bright, bold colors throughout the space.”

Barbara’s Tip: “My favorite advice came from my mom: Always incorporate quality fabrics and upholstery. They provide style and longevity.”

          • Master Bedroom

            The Great Escape

A master bedroom needs to master the balance between grandeur and sanctuary. Designer Amy D. Morris achieved the ideal laid-back, luxurious vibe via a comfortable bed bedecked with sumptuous linens and refined, soothing accents in glowy neutral tones. “This room is a refuge from the daily hustle and bustle,” she says.

Amy’s Tip: “Collect what you love. Any great designer can make it work.”

            • The Nursery

              Young at Heart

Most adults wouldn’t spend inordinate amounts of time in a nursery if they didn’t have to. Then again, most of them don’t have a baby’s quarters fashioned by Atlanta designer Michel Boyd. “My signature style incorporates multiple layers of luxury,” he says. “Where most would stop, I’m sure to add another.”

Michel’s Tip: “I infuse fashion trends and palettes into my interiors. Last summer’s neons were a huge trend and inspiration for the chartreuse velvet on the daybed here.”

              • Back Stair Hall

                Stairway to Heavenly

“I took an imaginative journey through the treasure troves of familial attics and English country homes and assembled a mélange of bucolic paintings of cattle and flora,” says designer James T. Farmer III, who thinks of any staircase as a gallery-in-waiting. These rich oils, watercolors, and prints bring the concept to fruition. On the banister, an elegant evergreen garland sports a red ribbon that harmonizes with the palette of the oriental rug.

James’s Tip: “Be confident, love your taste, and  proudly display your favorite pieces without apology.”
