ASH NYC

    • Edit for Impact

The right pieces let you dial up the drama without propelling a room into chaos. The secret? Balance—and meticulous editing. “There’s a lot happening in this room, but when you break it down you notice the simplicity of the elements,” says the ASH NYC team. The white walls and simple moldings create a blank canvas for the strong, predominantly black and white furnishings. “We like to pick a few important pieces rather than many small and insignificant ones. Everything in this room has a story and could stand on its own, which makes for a much more dynamic visual experience.”

      • Break the Rules

“While we love the simplicity of white, the bathroom is a place to take advantage of a typically small and unique space,” says the team. Here, black lacquered walls not only make this bathroom feel larger but add a sexy, interesting edge. A svelte pedestal sink offers a space-saving sculptural alternative to a chunky vanity, and black-and-white photographs, a vibrant celadon garden stool, and a few small accessories add a personal finishing layer that makes this room feel special.

        • Tell a Story

ASH NYC strives to create an interesting focal point in each room, and there’s no question what’s catching the eye in this one. “Our client, a young CEO of a fashion company, wanted something fun, funky, and functional all in one space. What better way to say all of those things than with neon?” To keep the space grounded, the team rounded out the decor with more traditional, natural colors and textures. “We believe in mixing mediums, centuries, and styles, to create an overall space that feels warm and lived-in while still feeling unique. You should do what you love and what feels right to you. After all, it’s you who will be living in and enjoying the space.”
