Fabric panels come in an array of gorgeous patterns, which means they’re perfect for creating custom pillows. We love the look of two vibrant pillows in different styles, like a Greek key pillow next to a pink Indian-inspired design.
Tip: Standard-size throw pillows are generally 16″ or 18″ squares, so one yard of fabric (36″) is about right for covering one pillow.
An extra-large piece of fabric with a pretty pattern can easily serve as a refined tablecloth—like the one on this dining table. You can also try using a smaller square panel. Just make sure the overall fabric is at least 10″ larger than the table. That way, the fabric hangs over the edges but you can still see the table’s beautiful base.
Tip: Don’t limit yourself to big tables. Drape a pretty fabric over a side table and top it off with a substantial lamp for an instant dose of chic.
Bold colorful fabric is great for creating custom roman shades. We suggest suzani-style prints (like the one in this bedroom), damask (a reversible pattern), or any other large-scale symmetrical motif, as they look great upside down or right side up.
Tip: Determine whether your shades will go inside the window frame or out, and take measurements accordingly.
Custom curtains made from toile or a mesmerizing geometric pattern are certain to draw the eye. For an inspiring yet unexpected look, consider using curtains in unusual spots around the home. We were especially captivated by the plaid shower curtains with the floral pelmet in this bathroom.
Tip: Measure your windows before shopping. We opt for about two yards or more (72″-84″ length) of fabric for living room window curtains. Try hanging curtains above the windows to give the illusion of higher ceilings.
