His colorful sheets, quilts, cases, and shams instantly add relaxed pattern and texture to any bedroom. Here, a mix of blue bedding awaits a lucky visitor in Robshaw’s guest room at his Connecticut home.
Robshaw’s pillow designs are as colorful and varied as any souk worth its salt. His philosophy on decorating with them is echoes this variety. “I use layers upon layers, prints on prints, colors on colors,” he says, referring to his own home. “There’s never a ‘wrong’ way of doing it.”
The designer’s art gives a glimpse into the workings of his imagination—and the way he finds raw images and applies his own artistic slant. The dazzling Indian motifs are structured yet bohemian and look great when hung salon-style.
Robshaw believes that some of his simpler patterns done in bold colors can work harmoniously together to create a happy, slightly modern setting. “I love the strong geometrics layered with something more traditional,” he says.
