    • Luzelle van der Westhuizen

Artist Luzelle van der Westhuizen (aka Mengsel) creates cheery prints from her original hand-drawn designs. “I like to play around with the scale of my surroundings using geometric shapes,” says the artist, whose work recalls African and Scandinavian patterns. Her silk screens often feature the sea and fishing boats—slices of her life growing up in Cape Town, South Africa.

      • Matthew Langille

The work of artist Matthew Langille has a whimsical quality that holds mass appeal. “I’m an artist first and foremost, but I enjoy seeing my artwork on products,” says Langille, who has created graphics for design and fashion firms including Swatch, Marc Jacobs, and Adidas. Informed by illustrators such as Tim Burton and Shel Silverstein, Langille’s quirky characters give our beach towels a graphic punch that’s equally entertaining.

        • Leanne Shapton

As an author, illustrator, photographer, and publisher, Leanne Shapton wears many hats. The former art director of The New York Times op-ed page, she is a master at mixing words and pictures. Her many published tomes feature her own evocative drawings and watercolors. Viewing the world in terms of colors, patterns, and moments, her towel designs are from a sketchbook she kept on a 2005 trip to Morocco.
