Pexonne Faïence Asparagus Plate
Scarce barbotine majolica glazed asparagus plate, Pexonne Faïencerie, Lorraine, France, circa 1870. A centered, multicolored bunch of raised asparagus spears glazed in yellow, pink, and green, with hand-painted cobalt blue feathered or shell edging. Two wells, one for sauce, the other for waste, sit deeper on either side of the spears. Stamped by the maker. Reference: page 33 "Artichauts et Asperges en Barbotine," Maryse Bottero. Light wear.
