Why We Love This

Tales from Shakespeare by Charles and Mary Lamb. NY: Crowell, circa 1897. Hardcover. 395 pages, with a frontispiece black and white portrait of Shakespeare. An 1897 owner's signature on the endpaper and the edges are shelf-rubbed, otherwise this is a charming pocket-sized copy of a classic set of tales, bound in daisy-patterned paper on boards and an ivory cloth spine stamped gilt.

About Barbara Farnsworth

My bookstore, an old wooden building at the edge of a New England trout stream, houses thousands of used, rare and antiquarian books, with particular emphasis on Home and Garden subjects -- food and drink, gardening, interior design and architecture. I also carry titles on fashion, children's books and literature. Books really do furnish a room, beautifully!
