William Hogath, Marriage a La Mode and Other Engravings Lear Publishers,N.Y. 1947. 1st Edition thus. Unpaginated. Linen-bound hardcover, lacking jacket. Illustrated in b/w. "The father of English social satire," Hogarth's engravings are intricate portraits of daily life, real imagined, circa 1700s. "Analysis of Beauty" defines beauty as "serpentine". But the last engraving, "Inhabitants of the Moon" remains most memorable long after the book is closed. Light sunning.
